STACK Media Launches Vertical Content Site for Gaming and Entertainment

New STACK Gamer Site Leverages the Company’s Relationships With Professional Athletes, Top Video Game Sites and Video Game Publishers

NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – Dec 7, 2011) – STACK Media, Inc. is unveiling STACK Gamer (, a vertical content site providing entertainment content and how-to information for video gamers — with a focus on improving performance in virtual competitions. An extension of, the nation’s leading multimedia platform for active sports participants, STACK Gamer will address the off-the-field needs and interests of athletes and connect with “virtual athletes” — catering to the athletic lifestyle, which is closely tied to gaming and entertainment.

In addition, STACK announced a strategic alliance with IGN, a leading online media and services company devoted to gaming, entertainment and everything guys enjoy, and with its IGN Pro League (IPL) subsidiary. Recently, STACK and IPL were in Atlantic City to profile top video gamers and professional athletes. STACK’s behind-the-scenes coverage not only examines the games themselves, but how gaming brings teams together and what it means to be a “gamer,” “baller,” “player” and “competitor” — all from the unique perspective of the athlete.

“In the near future, competitive gaming in the United States will be followed by a legion of fans, just like the NBA and the NFL,” says David Ting, IGN’s VP of Research and Design and General Manager of eSports. “The IGN Pro League is excited to partner with STACK to allow professional gaming to be an inspirational career path.”

Besides supplying exclusive gaming content from the athlete’s point of view, STACK Gamer will also syndicate content from leading publishers such as IGN; preview and review new video game releases; convey console facts and tips; include articles and video on other entertainment and tech topics; and facilitate online tournaments and competitions in partnership with professional athletes and major video game companies.

Visitors to STACK Gamer will find video coverage of the recent EA Sports Winter Preview in San Francisco — “Behind-the-Scenes with EA Sports and NFL Blitz,” “FIFA Street Promises Authentic Soccer Experience” and “SSX Massive World Parts 1 & 2” — plus interviews with EA designers and producers. Watch the STACK Gamer Sizzle Reel (attached) for a pertinent reminder of just how integral gaming is to the athlete lifestyle.

“STACK Gamer is part of our strategy to diversify our content and serve the information and entertainment needs of athletes before, during and after competition,” says STACK CEO Nick Palazzo. “STACK Gamer is a product of the feedback we have received from professional athletes. When they are not playing or training for their sports, they are playing video games and enjoying entertainment. STACK Gamer has already garnered significant support from video game publishers and other key players in the gaming community. We see an exciting opportunity to extend our brand and build a major presence in this vibrant market.”
